Meditations from the Center of the Stream by Kate Davis
Editor and writer Kate Davis will read a selection of poems from the last fifty years. A lover of poetry since the age of eight, Kate pursued a long career in publishing, editing hundreds of books, writing for a young-adult literary digest, and freelancing for local and major New York houses. She recently revisited and compiled her own work for this personal anthology. Meditations from the Center of the Stream takes its inspiration from the natural world, explores the transcendence of numinous experience, commemorates life’s passages, and praises music, mystery, what moves us, and more.
Essays on Life by Kate Summerlin
Kate Summerlin has been writing for over 20 years, exploring life’s moments through expressive nonfiction and poetry. Most recently she has turned her focus to poetry, honing her craft as a member of the Guilford Poet's Guild, where she serves as co-chair. Kate will read selections from her memoir composed of essays and poems about ordinary life. She captures the ordinary moments that often slip by without remark, only to discover that they are shared—if not universal—experiences of human beings living day-to-day. Spanning over four decades, her memories, ruminations, and reflections are recounted with a sensitivity and an eye to the human experience marked by time and place.
