serving the shoreline
Caring for Creation
Our Caring for Creation Ministry serves as an “environmental ministry” both within the NMCC community as well as serving people and organizations along the Shoreline and New Haven in 3 key areas that include activities and education: Gardening, Sustainability, and Exploring our Ecosystems.
Caring Ministries
We seek individuals willing to joyfully serve the needs and answer prayers of those in our congregation. We welcome whatever level of volunteer time you are able to offer. There is no committee term, meeting participation, or minimum time commitment. Just say “yes” when you can and “not now” when you are not able.
Our Caring Ministries provide TLC in times of crisis for families or individuals. Learn more about opportunities to provide for our community through personal visits, prayer, knitting, and cooking.

Food Pantries
We are committed to supporting families experiencing food insecurities in Madison and Clinton. We are collecting canned tuna, chicken, pasta, and cereal for the Madison and Clinton Food Pantries.
Additionally, we collect coins (or cash) to give the Clinton Food Pantry some money to purchase food that was once free to them during the pandemic. Collect change at home throughout the month, and bring to Communion Sunday each month.

Prison Ministry
Families and inmates impacted by incarceration need many forms of support. We partner with Free Forever Prison Ministry in New Haven to provide food, personal care, home products and toys for families with incarcerated family members. We partner with the Prison Ministry of First Church Congregational in Guilford, CT to fill backpacks for people who have been incarcerated as they are released and integrated back into the community.
We explore ways we can impact prison reform. In 2022 we ran a letter writing campaign to support our legislators who have worked to address prison conditions in Danbury. We regularly welcome guest speakers like Rev. Dr. Dietra Wise Baker, whose expertise have helped us better understand Jesus' call to tend to the incarcerated.

We offer community Yoga classes on Mondays at 6:00 pm and Thursdays at 6:00 pm. Our classes are led by Vicki Earl, our certified yoga instructor. Monday classes are in-person in Fellowship Hall and on Zoom and Thursdays are held via Zoom.

Skunk Misery Ramblers
NMCC is proud to support the Skunk Misery Ramblers Fiddle Club. This community outreach program is made up of students and adults of various abilities, from beginners to really good pros. We play violins, mandolins, guitars, banjos, whatever. We’re not just old-time, but also Western Swing, Bluegrass, Scots, Irish, and yeah, we throw in a little classical here and there.
We want high school kids to hear the creativity that is bursting at the seams all around them. We want you to be inspired to pick up that instrument you quit all those years ago. Or perhaps you’ll try different music.

We meet regularly on Sundays at 4pm. Reach out if you are interested!
