Greetings fellow drumming enthusiasts! My name is Eric Williams and I will be facilitating a beginner-friendly drum circle at NMCC. This drum circle welcomes players of all levels and will be geared towards those who are still getting the hang of their instruments - which includes myself!  

 

First, basic djembe/hand drum strokes will be taught and then some easy (but funky!) rhythms will be practiced. Finally, we'll take what we've learned and have fun in a full drum circle. Hope to see you there! As someone wrote, “in a very objective, yet beautiful way, an interactive rhythm event puts us all on an equal footing with each other and brings us closer together.... The quality of music made in a drum circle is not about the skill of the drummers, but the quality of our relationships and listening with one another around the circle. Come and be a part of the magic!

 

Some drums and buckets will be available. Please bring one if you have one. Let us know if you will need a drum or would like guidance in purchasing a drum. Register on the sign up sheet in Friendship Hall or by emailing the office. The plan is for this circle to grow into a regular community gathering.
